process

For weddings, our goal is to provide each couple with a unique invitation that fits their personality and their budget. Armed with a degree in graphic design, combined with over 5 years of experience and the ability to do all of my own illustrations, I take in all of the details of the event and I create a cohesive graphic theme. Each new project begins with an initial consultation, either by phone or in person. We’ll discuss all the details of your event in order to develop a look and feel that is individual to you and personifies your celebration. We’ll guide you through ink color and paper choices, printing methods (letterpress or offset) invitation sizes, illustration styles and any other embellishments that will coordinate with your function. Also, we’ll discuss your budget and time frame.

Next, we will develop at least two invitations incorporating the elements that we discussed. We’ll send you our concepts and work through refining the invitation of your choice to your exact specifications. Upon your approval and sign off of the final invitation proof, we’ll work with the printer for final production. (Production times vary and are dependent on the complexity of the invitation.)

After the invitation, we complete the look and feel of the wedding with other stationery pieces. In addition to invitations, we design save the dates, hotel welcome letters, programs, menus, escort cards, favor tags, thank you notes…basically if it can be printed, we’ll design it to match! We love when smaller details match the theme that began with the invitation.

Custom invitations are a luxury, consequently we try to take each budget and maximize it in areas where it will have the most impact. We’re often mixing letterpress and offset printing and using existing printing plates on other printed materials to save a little on cost without sacrificing the design. Also, if we design the invitation, there is no charge to design the supplemental pieces – we only charge for production on pieces printed after the invitation design is complete.
